![]() Rusty won't be the only festivity when a ball flies over the short right field wall and into the water in Willie McCovey Cove, however. He will perform during lulls in the action and perhaps to celebrate home runs. ![]() Rusty is meant to be an engineering marvel who cannot only run on the tracks, but is reportedly able to "slide" into a base, salute the crowd, and mime a swing of the bat. A set of rails will run along the right-field wall, about eight feet off the ground, and the 14-foot mechanical man, dressed as an old- time ballplayer, will move forward and backward between the foul line and the right-center-field gap. ![]() ![]() The star of the show will be Rusty, who will "live" in a covered shed just beyond the right-field foul pole. It is safe to say the attraction will be like none other in professional sports. The project has been hush-hush for months, but (after a little investigative reporting) Old Navy agreed to share details. ![]()
